Newspaper conglomerate considers building massive database of gun owners
Heads up!
A U.S. newspaper conglomerate has considered building state-by-state databases of people who have the right to carry concealed firearms.
Civitas Media, which owns 88 newspapers in 12 states and more than 100 total publications, is planning to use public records requests to build their databases, according to an internal Civitas email obtained by the Buckeye Firearms Association in Ohio. ...more...

Why would a news agency build a data base if their intent was not to publish? Do they think they're the NSA now?

Re: Newspaper conglomerate considers building massive database of gun owners
How hard would it be for blogs such as PAFOA to build data bases of the following:
1. Every employee of the local Civitas Media owned media company.
2. Vehicles, addresses, etc... of the above
3. Names, descriptions and vehicles of the local delivery drivers (they are kind enough to enclose a card with name/address every year at Christmas hoping for a tip)
4. Address of every newspaper box they own
5. Addresses and photos of all Civitas Media owned properties
6. Any open source information such as criminal activity, traffic offenses, etc from http://ujsportal.pacourts.us/ of any Civitas employee
7. Photographs of employees, their vehicles, homes, family
I do not advocate threats to their employees but it seems to me that the fear of their information being collected for unknown reason may be enough for them to refuse to participate in their employers plan.
Take the above a step further and expand it to any business selling Civitas newspapers.....?

Re: Newspaper conglomerate considers building massive database of gun owners
A quick search on Linkedin.com shows results of about 650 people that work for that company.
You can start with them.

Tracers point in both directions, so announcing you are going to keep records on gun owners can get nasty very quickly once they publish things and the first robery/ death occurs that can be connected theynshall reap what they sow. These types of folks never think things through.
