Check out Guthsville --- if you are the only shooter on the range, you can setup targets at varying distances down range and work on movement. We do it all the time when practicing for IDPA/USPSA

You may find me dead in a ditch one day. But by God, I'll be lying in a pile of brass.

Re: "Tactical" Rifle/Pistol Ranges?
Unless you are being a goofball waving a gun around in the wrong direction or popping off an ND, there is nothing to be embarrassed about at any match. Most people are more worried about their own performance and they don't waste time laughing at people that don't shoot as well. I always believe that an armed society is a polite society and such it is at matches.
I was out of competition a long time but got back into it, happily, and yep at first it's an adjustment, maybe you make some mistakes, are slow or don't have great scores, but you have to start somewhere.

You want to "run n gun"? Check out east bangor sportsman association Sunday mornings.. There's a group that does Magpul dynamic type classes there. Never had an issue with setting up multiple targets and running through drills, if you go on a weekday morning you pretty much have the range to yourself. Range is cheap and they're cleaning it up.
