Re: First Alert Gun Safe Locked shut
WELL.... just reachin out on a limb... the trucking co driver notes the combo and the home address.. Gets drunk and blabs to his drunken buddies of a huge safe delivered to this ritzy place with Ferraris and Lambos.... so they break in and are in the safe in 3 turns...
Not that this is why FIRST ALERT doesnt do that... it makes TOO MUCH sense.... just sayin...Gallagher Guns LLC Gun Shop/NRA Certified Instructor -Swiftwater

Re: First Alert Gun Safe Locked shut
I assumed the safe would be covered in some sort of packaging.
But you know what happens when one assumes..."The first time any mans freedom is trodden on we're all damaged."JeanLucPicard

Re: First Alert Gun Safe Locked shut
Can you change the combination to a new one? Then you can make it whatever you want. One trick I used on the combinations I had to come up with was a common object located near the safe - as long as it was a six-letter word (e.g., "OFFICE," "WINDOW," "AUGUST," "SUPPLY," etc.). Convert the word to numbers using the telephone's keypad ("OFFICE" becomes "633423") and you end up with a combination not written down anywhere ("63-34-23") - although writing it down and taping it to the back of a refrigerator or stove (or somewhere else) might not hurt.
Once the safe was opened, a Sergeant & Greenleaf lock required a changing key. A Mosler safe lock required the back plate of the combination mechanism being removed using a screwdriver, then setting the plastic disks inside to reflect the new combination.
Remember, if you do change the combination, MAKE SURE IT WORKS before closing the safe.

Re: First Alert Gun Safe Locked shut
Another call to FIRST ALERT CUST SVC is needed for this answer... no where in the manual did it say how to do this but it sure would make sense to have this option for failing memories of senior consumers LOL
Then again, so many things these days require common sense and its SO MISSING.
Still may look into a better larger safe....Gallagher Guns LLC Gun Shop/NRA Certified Instructor -Swiftwater

Re: First Alert Gun Safe Locked shut
First alert safe jammed.
They would pay a maximum of $75.00 toward locksmith cost.
Then they wanted a notorized letter from locksmith that the safe was defective.
This is junk and should be avoided.I'd rather have a gun in my hand then a cop on the phone.
