There isn't a difference. Ones just more comfortable... So why isn't simply just putting a 10" upper on your AR legal? NFA laws are idiotic.

SigTac brace... in use the way I was mentioning... I'm just curious if the weapon becomes an SBR when you'd like them, but is magically NOT and SBR when held differently. I've heard dumber things.

Mike, I apologize for thread jacking. I'm just genuinely interested, because I'd love an SBR, and this almost seems like a legal, simple loophole to essentially have an SBR. I have no interest in using the brace as intended. I'd be more interested in using it as a stock, minus the $200, fingerprints, a 1 year wait for permission to own such an evil thing

I thought the vertical forward grip wasn't allowed on the AR pistol unless it was registered as an AOW?

I checked with ICEN and he said that law is "dumb" and that most cops wouldn't care.

(but yeah, pretty sure that grip in the pic is a no-no)

As i have heard before, if you use a wrench to pound nails, its still a wrench, not a hammer.

There is a reason it has such a familiar shape... its riding that very fine line, but its on the right side.

And that's my point, you can't hold it illegally.

It makes me want to consider building an AR pistol. But I don't want to get myself into trouble.
BUT..... In order to be classified as an SBR the buffer tube must have a stock attached to it or be readily able to accept a stock. In this case, it's a "pistol" buffer tube with an "arm brace" attached to it accompanied by a letter of approval ffrom the ATF.

As previosly mentioned shooting a rifle with one arm extended doesn't turn it into a pistol; nor does shouldering a pistol outfitted with a arm brace turn it into a rifle (SBR).

They would prefer you conceal it also.

I'm thinking more and more that this sig brace is the way to go for AR pistol build, forget the whole NFA route with the paper trail and tax.

Go head, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.
