Pietta SAA screws coming loose. Red thread lock 'em ?
I have a Pietta 1873 SAA in 357mag caliber on which a couple screws keep loosening up.
Specifically the screw for the ejector rod housing and the forward grip screw.
They loosen up to the point of nearly falling out after only firing 20 rounds.
I've tried using blue tread lock on them. But that's not helping.
I hesitate to use red thread lock on them.
Because they are such small screws.
And fearing of never being able to remove the screws without destroying their heads; or not being able to remove them at all.
Is there something else I should trying using before resorting to red thread lock ?
Thanks;--ET

Use the blue but make sure to degrease the threads really well and let it set overnight before re-lubing it. No reason blue shouldn't hold on a ejector rod screw.

Red? Only is you want to heat the whole area up HOT to get them out. Proper degreasing and blue should do.

Thanks everyone for reaffirming suspicions about using red thread lock.
I'll just have to try and do a better job with the blue thread lock.--ET

Back in the day(says the od fart) we just used finger nail polish. My Ruger flat top .44 mg. was bad about loosening and polish stopped it with still being able to remove the screws.
