Default Hunter trapper safety course- I'm taking it today...

Did anyone else get told to not take your handgun into a public place openly, so as not to give sportsman a bad name during the ethics part?????? I am going to address this with the instructors, after I pass my test today.

I think I will hook dead foxes to the side of my truck next season, so everyone can see them LOL- hell with this political correct crap! I am so sick of peta et al trying to dictate where to place our taken game animals for the ride home, or of people getting upset if you hang your deer off the tree in your front yard.

If someone wants to open carry a handgun, hunting or not, what's the fuss? Yet no advocacy group fusses about obvious transexuals, or white kids dressed and acting like black gangbangers...

I hope you open carried during the class.

When I took the course back in the mid 80's we were told that. But when I re-took the class with a female cousin that just turned 12 back in '92 the made no mention of the carrying openly thing.

I took the class in 2000, and I don't remember anything about open carry. I just made a quick glance at the hunter trapper education manual I got when I took the class, and I don't see it mentioned.

I took mine a while ago and they did mention clearly displaying weapons in your vehicle but I think it was more of an anti theft thing as opposed to a worried about idiots thing

No mention of it two months ago when I took the class at the Southern Chester County Sportsman and Farmers Club.

Sorry I forgot about this with the other crap going on.......

Yes, I OC'd both days. The older instructor during the ethics portion, showed a slide just before the guns in the truck one, of a guy wearing a revolver on a gun belt with bullets looped all through, talking to a scared gas station attendant. He said, don't do this, there is no reason to go about, intimidating people. I have a carry permit and I carry concealed, there is no reason to go around intimidating people. What you do reflects on all of us sportsmen.

I was asked a few questions about my pistol during the course, like what it was, what caliber, blah blah... A few of the young teens would crane their necks at it as I walked by to grab a smoke or something, but they were looking like teen boys look at anything cool I didn't wind up mentioning it as something else came up in my life as I was getting ready to leave. But I was curious if it was just that guy or if it was part of the curriculum.
