    Default transporting thru Md

I and my family are making plans to move back to Pa as soon as I get a new job lined up. I would anticipate a number of trips between VA and Pa in the near future, unavoidably through Md. I know they are a PITA about transporting firearms; any advice on what I have to do to avoid running afoul of Md laws would be appreciated. I have a VA permit, but I understand there is no reciprocity.

Your VA permit will be valid in PA as long as you're still a VA resident.

As soon as you establish residency in PA, your VA permit will no longer be valid. You can get your PA LTCF immediately after getting your new driver's license, possibly that same day depending on which county you are moving to.

Transporting through Maryland is permitted via federal law because you will be traveling between two destinations in which possession of a firearms is legal for you. You will just have to have it unloaded and locked in the trunk.

I'm not a lawyer, please continue to research and wait for other statements.

Unloaded in a locked container in the trunk (or rear of minvan/suv) with ammo locked up separately.

If you are moving stuff it's likely you may be in a truck or vehicle without a compartment seperate from the passenger compartment (ie: SUV, pickup, van etc), you can transport it through MD unloaded and locked in a case or container (that is not a glove compartment or center console).

Technically, it's "trunk (compartment seperate from passenger compartment)" OR "locked container"

Depending on the route you take . . . be aware that Delaware no longer recognizes your VA permit.
