10/22 take down Fail to fire
I have a 10/22 takedown about a year old, about 500 rounds through it.
I'm having a fail to fire issue. about 40% of the rounds fail to fire. I can see the rim has been struck and when I reload them they often shoot.
Thoughts?

Re: 10/22 take down Fail to fire
Sounds like interference with the energy that used to be transmitted to the rim/primer mixture.
500 rounds fired/ one year old could be cleaning needed, lubes needing removing and re-lubing with gun lube(s).
Unless there is a manufacturing defect which has allowed development of too-large a headspace, weakened spring involved in the force applied.
There is another possibility. Were you firing from a "brick" of 500, used them up and began firing a new (read different lot or brand) batch of .22s? If so, rule out cleanliness and mechanical specs, then suspect the ammo.

I was going to say the same thing as Bang about the ammo. If you're using a new box try something different first. I just picked up a bulk pack of Winchester and they don't fire well from anything. Always start with the easiest possibilities.

On these fail to fires, are you seeing light primer strikes, no primer strikes?

Re: 10/22 take down Fail to fire
I'm not sure, I gave it a good cleaning last night though, except the firing pin whichI can't figure how to remove, its held in by a hollow pin?! why?!
though I really hope this gun is not that sensitive, 500 rounds to failure seems ….something
No I using gameshok and this morning I used mini-mags

Have you re-checked the tightness of the barrel? I haven't had any problems with mine yet but I have heard that it needs to be set again after so many rounds. If it wasn't seated far enough into the action that may explain the light strikes. Maybe tighten it up one click and try it again.

Re: 10/22 take down Fail to fire
Take-down models of rifles and shotguns can be inherently less permanent in receiver-barrel relationship. I'd look into a forum dealing with that take-down model and owners. You may find issues and reasons.
A "hollow pin" is probably a roll pin. They, unlike a solid pin, exert a little bit of spring pressure laterally all along their length, thus securing the pin. There are roll pin punches available for those pins.
But I would just drop the bolt in a solvent (don't tell anyone, but I like gasoline)...but lacquer thinner, Hoppe's, acetone, even Simple Green full strength overnight, penetrating oil, should get it clean. (Be careful to make sure there are no dissolveable parts like plastic in the assembly).
Has the rifle been dry-fired? Is it able to be dry-fired or is that a specified no-no? Has the chamber been peened at its edge from firing pin striking it?
Look for the simple, most-likely answer first...as has been suggested....cleaning. Or adjustment as suggested by Jerkin.
