US Senate giving our constitutional rights to United Nations
We came four votes away from the U.S. Senate giving our Constitutional
rights over to the United Nations.
In a 53-46 vote, the Senate narrowly passed a measure that will stop the
United States from entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty.
The Statement of Purpose from the Bill reads:
"To uphold Second Amendment rights and prevent the United States from
entering into the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty."
The U.N. Small Arms Treaty, which has been championed by the Obama
Administration, would have effectively placed a global ban on the import
and export of small firearms.
The ban would have affected all private gun owners in the U.S.
and had language that would have implemented an international gun registry
on all private guns and ammo.
Astonishingly, 46 out of our 100 United States Senators were willing to
give away our Constitutional rights to a foreign power.
Here are the 46 senators who voted to give your rights to the U.N.

Re: US Senate giving our constitutional rights to United Nations
Alexander Hamilton would flip out.
The US government does not have the right to uphold or deny the Second Amendment as it belongs to the citizens.
If one allows the government to uphold it, via the same logic you are stating that they have the power to remove it. It creates a supposition that they have the power to do so in their minds so that they may make a power grab for the right at a later time though they have no power to do so in the first place.
The US (at most) should explain the individual right and how it cannot be controlled by the government and therefore the US as a government could never fully honor the agreement internally. It is you. You have all the weapons that you need. Now fight. --Sucker Punch

Re: US Senate giving our constitutional rights to United Nations
For clarification:
Treaty passage is done solely by the Senate:
Article II, Section 2, Clause 2 of the United States Constitution, includes the Treaty Clause, which empowers the President of the United States to propose and chiefly negotiate agreements between the United States and other countries, which become treaties between the United States and other countries after the advice and consent of a supermajority of the United States Senate.IANAL

^^^^ This, and the Constitution specifically states a 2/3 majority is needed for passage of such treaties.
I fully agree that elected officials need to be held responsible, but beware of scare tactics too. It was somewhat unlikely from the start that such a treaty would pass the Senate at this time, given the Constitutional requirements....and they have a plan...
