Source for surplus powder
Is the a source for surplus "data" powder in the SE PA area. I know gunshows are the best, but I'm ready to reload now.
There are also good online sources, but who wants to pay the 20 buck hazmat?

Re: Source for surplus powder
I can buy 8 pounds of my favorite powder from www.midwayusa.com cheaper than any of my local dealers even after the hazmat and special shipping charges.
Check them out.
Thanks.

Re: Source for surplus powder
That is pretty sad consider that Midway doesn't even offer a dealer discount on powder. Sounds like you need to find better gun shops in your area.
For the OP, have you contacted TNT Reloading up in the Allentown area? They normally hit all the gun shows and they have a store front as well. I know that TNT used to carry surplus powder in the past. I don't see surplus powder on their site, but you might want to give them a call.

Wish I could. There are exactly two near the rural area where I live. The closest is run by an absolute a$$hole and I refuse to give him any business (I really don't know how he manages to stay in business). The second charges $19.99 a pound for IMR 4895. If you buy the eight pound can, you get a dollar per pound off. But he won't carry Accurate powders at all. I like Accurate 1680.
The nearest Gander Mountain (in Scranton) gets $22.99 per pound for IMR 4895.
For me, Midway is cheaper for the 8 pound orders.
Downside of living in a rural area.
Thanks.NRA Lifer

Re: Source for surplus powder
WOW your gunshops SUCK.
I'm paying $16.95 per pound of just about anything in Schuylkill County. No one seems to keep 8lb or 4 lb kegs in stock but for pistol loads 1 lb goes a LLOOONNNNGGGGG way.
Right now the surplus market is pretty slim. Hardly any 4895, lots of pull down 50BMG and 20mm vulcan powder.
If you shoot a .30 M1 Carbine there is TONS of 820 out there (good for .357 also).
<brag> Good thing I hoarded up 24lbs of surplus 4895 over the summer... $80 for an 8 lb jug... saved me over $50 a keg off 'retail' prices </brag>

Re: Source for surplus powder
I have gone yet, in about 12 hours......anticipation...
It sounds like with the weather coming in it might make it hard for some to get to the show tomorrow. I guess we will have to wait and see how much snow and rain/sleet we get.
