Default Re: How do you answer your front door?

We live on an old farm with the driveway gated at the main road and then it's a 1/4 mile up to the farm house, so if anyone knocks on my door I'm in defensive mode. Only 2 people have a gate clicker and they know to call before coming up the lane so we can lock up the 3 wiener dogs. For the past 5+ years, I can only remember one person ever knocking on my door unannounced and it went something like this:

    Younger Guy: "Knock Knock"

Me: Grab my Glock near the front door and I look through the door window and see this young guy standing there, "What the fuck are you doing on my property?"

Younger guy: "I'm doing research on the Underground Railroad and would like to look around if that's okay."

Me: "How did you get pass the gate?"

Younger guy: "I walked up, your gate was closed."

Me: "Get the fuck off of my property."

I never open the front door, or any door unless I know the person. If I don't know them, I ignore it. It is usually someone selling something shady.

Generally I don't answer unless I know the person.

Boy, you guys are really strange. Someone knocks on my door, I open it. If I don't want to talk to them, I close the door again.
