I agree with all points 100%. The biggest challenge is figuring out how to "pursue" short of hiring a lawyer. The online app won't let me proceed without an IL DL, my emails and (snail mail) letters to the Illinois State Police have gone unanswered, and I've received no response yet to my letters to the state rep & senator for the district in which I reside.

Do you live off base?

We will do some legwork on finding out if you can get an Il. I.D. if so it will work just like a DL.

If you count all of the time and miles invested in arriving at this point, gold would not do it. If the old stupid guy can figure out how to post it I will.

IL will issue an ID only to those who do not have a DL. Regardless, the DMV would require the applicant to turn in their DL from another state in order to obtain either... But yes, if it was possible to have an IL ID while holding an out-of-state DL, that would be a good way to go.

My partner will be back monday and I will have him check with ISP to see if there is a way to get you carry. He gets better response since he taught most of present day troopers when they were in training.
