Anyone carry a different gun around the house?
Been debating picking up a smaller gun like a G27 for "around the house" carry. I have a G23 (ammo integrity etc...) and was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this?
Not that I don't carry my 23 around the house, but it just seems like a smaller gun would be more convenient for in-house purposes.
Thoughts?

Re: Anyone carry a different gun around the house?
Why would you go "smaller" around the house? Really, the only reason I can think for "smaller" is ease of being able to conceal. Is needing to conceal in your house an issue?
With that said, if getting a smaller gun would make you carry more frequently while at home, go for it. If it's just an excuse to get another gun...well, go for it anyway. We all have our excuses for needing just one more.

Re: Anyone carry a different gun around the house?
I am with DGO. I prefer smaller (XDs) for outside the home for concealment purposes. If I carry something different around the house, it is my larger G23. That is not to say, of course, that I only carry the XDs outside and the G23 inside, just if I were to use a different one for either, the larger would be for in home.

I'd rather just put it on and leave it on.

My EDC is also my HD. If I'm on the couch for an extended period I'll place it on the table next to me.
Getting a G27 to complement your 23? Not a bad idea at all for any purpose

Noted. Thanks fellas. My issue is, with kids, I can't leave it laying on the table (probably shoulda mentioned that).

I carry a Ruger LCP or a Kahr CW9. I keep those on me in the house.

Buy more guns...
I have a gun within 10ft of me no matter where I am within my 1900sqft house + 950sqft basement. There are 4 loaded guns within 5ft of me right now, 2 of which within arms reach. 8ft away is my gun closet with about 10 more guns.
No need to carry on my person within my home.

Re: Anyone carry a different gun around the house?
Sheesh!!! If I did that I'd be concerned that my wife would use one on me (just on a whim, y'know). e.g. The wrong answer when she asks, "Does this dress make me look fat?"
Edit: In answer to the OP's question, I, pretty much, do what "sprrdhawk44" says in the next post... Whatever pistola I choose as "garb of the day" is what I carry at home.Last edited by Kurt_D; January 6th, 2014 at 03:02 PM.
