Default Lost my "Application/Record of sale" paperwork

I just bought a new .38 and got my white copy of my "Application/Record of sale". When I went to put my copy of that document in my safe with all my other important paperwork, I noticed I didn't have a copy for my glock 23 that I had purchased 2 years ago.

I know that it isn't a "registration" but how can I get another copy of that document for my glock.

I'd like it for my records in case of theft or fire.

    Thanks

best bet would be to contact the FFL that sold it to you. if you have the book number he should be be able to find it rather quickly. otherwise if you have the date that would help. be prepared to offer inducement for his/her time.

Curious what the benefit of the SP-4 copy is in the case of fire or theft??

My insurance requires no paperwork on the guns.

Piece of mind. I like having paperwork, reciepts for expensive items I own. I'm also mad at myself for losing/destroying it.

Only thing I could think to tell you is to see if the shop you bought it at still has their copy on file. I don't know how long they're required to keep them, if they have to at all.

Now, let's just say the seller isn't in business anymore? SOL?

I suppose I could resell it to myself at a ffl, but that would be $25.00 and pretty silly.

Take several photos of the weapon, including ones that clearly show the serial number and keep that in the safe. There is no reason you need the FFL forms for it.

Photos are all I have in the way of "proof of ownership" for either of my firearms.
