    Default Remington Wingmaster auction win

Bidding on any gun unseen is always a crapshoot. I have been very lucky with only only clunker, a heritage 22lr. Anyway, I took a chance and won this Wingmaster 12ga with 30"bbl for $200.01 + $25 shipping. I saw a video on YouTube on how to identify month/yr of production and it turns out to be July of '56. The wood stock has some character marks, but bluing on barrel and receiver is pretty good! I'll take some pics and post later, but I'm kinda stoked on my latest aquisition.

Yes, it's a full choke barrel.

Well, thanx! But right now I don't feel swindled. When I first got it home, the action was a bit tight. Whoever owned it prior to me used it but didn't clean/oil it. Luckily it was stored properly or it would be pitted and bluing would not be so nice. I wiped it down and gave it an oiling to areas I could reach without breaking it down and it's action smoothed out nicely. In next day or so I will give it complete breakdown and clean/oil it properly. I just went on gunbroker again and bought a new 18.5" barrel for $83 +$9 shipping from buds. The stock barrel is in too nice of condition to cut and I'll use it for hunting/clays later.

That's what I did as well. Have my factory 28" barrel that's a nice blued. Bought a 20" slug barrel that is matte, for deer hunting. Doesn't look nice by who cares when I'm hunting, swap back the original barrel for the classy look again.

You got a smoking deal on that gun IMO, I love them old Remmys, quality built guns with quality parts, unlike some of their shotguns today. I would look for an older non vent rib blued barrel, have it professionally cut and crowned to 18.5". It would make for a perfect looking old school riot gun.
