New Remington R51 pistol
Anyone see this yet? Remington's new take on an old pistol. A single stack, aluminum and steel, 9mm +P rated, "pocket" pistol. Fixed barrel, with a low bore, so it should be accurate, and less muzzle flip and felt recoil than a true blowback design. Also, not .380, but 9mm +P, possibly .40 S&W to follow. MSRP $389, available in February.
I like it. Opinions?

Re: New Remington R51 pistol
Is the rear sight on the article on backwords?
j/k.
Interesting to say at least. I have to have one in my hand to pass any judgment, but may be a much cheaper alternative to Kimber Solo...
BTW, if they ever decide to remake Model 51, I'd buy it in heart beatAudemus jura nostra defendere

Re: New Remington R51 pistol
I'll make up my mind when I get to hold one in my hand. I do like the look.

Re: New Remington R51 pistol
Is that a 1911-ish grip safety I see?
Hey, at that price, as long as the trigger doesn't suck and it doesn't have a mag safety, I'm in for one.....
Hey Glock, see what ppl can do when they look at current market trends?I don't watch shark week. Sharks watch FLICK week.

Re: New Remington R51 pistol
My first thought seeing the photo in the OP was "50s Ray Gun" styling.
Aside from that, I'm not seeing anything I don't like about it.
My biggest gripe about concealed carry is that when you get up into 9mm territory, the guns get too thick for my liking. I used to carry a Colt Pony .380ACP as a compromise because I just couldn't carry a Glock comfortably.
The thin design I like - a lot.
The grip safety I like.
The caliber I like - a lot.
The price I like - a lot.

Re: New Remington R51 pistol
Pocket and 9mm should never be used in the same sentence. I have yet to meet a "pocket" 9mm that actually fit into my pocket. Not one that holds more than 2 rounds anyways.
It's an interesting looking piece. I kinda like it. I kinda don't like it. I don't know. I'm so confused.
I wonder if they will sell them at Dick's.By failing to prepare, you are preparing to fail. Benjamin Franklin

Re: New Remington R51 pistol
shit man, slim is in.
supposedly it's got a 1911ish trigger. This is clutch. The only alternatives really in the less than 1 inch wide model for less than $500 were the XDS, Shield, Bersa Thingy, or Keltec PFs. All of them have shitty triggers.
$350 street price? more clutch.
