New Remington R51 pistol
Anyone see this yet? Remington's new take on an old pistol. A single stack, aluminum and steel, 9mm +P rated, "pocket" pistol. Fixed barrel, with a low bore, so it should be accurate, and less muzzle flip and felt recoil than a true blowback design. Also, not .380, but 9mm +P, possibly .40 S&W to follow. MSRP $389, available in February.
I like it. Opinions?

Is the rear sight on the article on backwords?
j/k.
Interesting to say at least. I have to have one in my hand to pass any judgment, but may be a much cheaper alternative to Kimber Solo...

Re: New Remington R51 pistol
Dammit, shoulda waited for this and skipped on the XD-S 9mm...
That was my first reaction too, until I thought about it: the slope on the rear of the sight really does make it snag-free, and with zero slope on the front, you can easily rack the slide one-handed.
Hell, I swapped the stock rear sight on my XD-S with an Ameriglo block sight, and had it installed backwards just so I could have a truly vertical face facing forwards for one-handed manipulations.
I have a PSP in my safe (which I found for a good price), and it's my favorite pure shooter...but the manual of arms (with the mag release in the heel) is too wonky for me to put it in the carry rotation. Had I found a P7M8 for a decent price...Last edited by AJChenMPH; January 3rd, 2014 at 01:03 AM.

Re: New Remington R51 pistol
I actually prefer carrying my P7 PSP over my P7M8 specifically due to the heel mag release. It is very secure, and I find it easy to change mags quickly. There is also no chance of an accidental mag release with the PSP, although with a proper holster, that shouldn't be an issue with the M8 either.
I like the low bore axis of the P7, so I would probably like this new R51.Last edited by Pilot321; January 3rd, 2014 at 04:17 PM.

Re: New Remington R51 pistol
I like my P7 heel release just fine. The M8 is good also. I don't have a strong opinion on which is better.

I'll make up my mind when I get to hold one in my hand. I do like the look.

Re: New Remington R51 pistol
Is that a 1911-ish grip safety I see?
Hey, at that price, as long as the trigger doesn't suck and it doesn't have a mag safety, I'm in for one.....
Hey Glock, see what ppl can do when they look at current market trends?I don't watch shark week. Sharks watch FLICK week.
