    Default Opinions on Kahr CW9

I have been thinking of getting one of these due to it's size, would like to here from some people who own one. My biggest concern is reliability and so the question is, how reliable are they?

It's a great single stack 9mm firearm with no BS safety like a internal lock, magazine disconnect, loaded chamber indicator or manual safety.

I find it very comfortable to shoot. I have average size hands so someone with large hands might have some difficulty.

My previous carry firearms was a ruger LCP and I like that with the CW9 I can get full three finger grip on the firearm.

Recoil is very manageable for a firearm of its size and was much lighter than I though

The camming action in the trigger is very smooth and it breaks very crisply. I could use a ever so slightly earlier trigger break. But it's nothing I cannot live with. There is virtually no over travel, but there is a longish reset.

There is a documented break in of 200 rounds. But I have about 500 through it without any type of failure. This is with loadings of full mags, +1, slow fire, rapid fire, double taps, and intentionally trying to get the firearm to fail by limp wristing.

I got mine for $350 from budsgunshop.com. They recently went on sale for black friday for cheaper at other online shops.

If you have an specific questions feel free to ask.

^^I agree with almost everything said. I go back and forth between my CW9 and my G19 and feel very comfortable with both(to give you an opinion of feel between the two guns/sizes). I have also yet to have any malfunction of any type with mine. A very nice little gun.

edit: one 'mod' I did make to mine was adding a Hogue Handall Jr grip. Gives me a little better hold with my larger hand on the slender grip.

It is a nice little gun. I have one that has over 1100 rounds through it with 0 malfunctions. If you are dead set on a gun that compact then I think it's a good option. I will tell you this, though. Since I bought my Glock 19 it has only left the safe once. The Glock is only slightly bigger with over twice the capacity. The felt recoil is also much less on the Glock. When I was shooting the Kahr a lot, I was getting cysts in my wrist from the recoil like I got when I first started weight lifting.

My personal opinion is I don't feel a need for a single stack like the Kahr when something as versatile as the 19 exists.

Thanks for the replies, they are what I wanted to hear. I currently carry a G17 or G27 so what I want is something smaller for those times when those are just to big.

QuackXP, thanks for the offer as I just may swing by the club and check it out, nothing is better than actually trying one out.

CW9 was my first daily carry piece, put a few thousand rounds through it, got pretty good both left and right handed with the gun, a good shootin' iron. Concealed easily, if that's your thing.

    Love the gun.

One day the trigger bar broke on it though, like I said I used it a lot. Kahr repaired it with no problem and it remained an accurate shooter, but I just didn't have faith in it any more, all mental I know, but it is what it is.

    I've been carrying a Ruger SP101 2 1/4" .357 magnum ever since.

Fantastic Gun, i much prefer carrying it over my G26 when i feel like carrying a small gun, never a failure wth mine but i bought it used LNIB with an extra mag and a brand New Galco holster all for $299.
It points and shoots like a dream for me.

Very thin and light 0.9 inch thick and 17 ounces empty great for summer carry which is when i carry mine.
And like one of the other posters i do recommend the Hogue handall Jr grip sleeve for it ,makes the thin grip so much nicer.

If you are considering the CW9, I would look at the Bersa BP9 as well. I prefer the trigger on the Bersa, but the magazine disconnect is a turnoff for some. Bersa gives you an extra mag, the Kahr only has one.

I can honestly say that a part breakage after a fair amount of use would not deter me from carrying it, anything can break. The issue I would have is reliability in the form of malfunctions such as FTF, FTE etc. It sounds like the CW9 is reliable and that's what I want in a CCW.

I'm not a fan of Bersa firearms, but I do like what Kahr has to offer in a small9mm.

I will be getting one of these in the next week or two, thanks guys you all made my decision easy.
