Permit question
My concealed weapons permit is about to expire from Luzerne County. I have live in Carbon for about 8 months now and I am not familiar with the process here. Also, since I do not know many people from the county for a reference my question is..... I know a person who cannot buy a firearm due to a involuntary 302. Would using him as a reference effect me at all? Do they run his back round? Thank you in advance for any advice you can provide.

Re: Permit question
The form is asking for character references not cosigners, I can't imagine your friends 302 would be an issue.
I believe you can use references in Kazakhstan if you wanted to, but I'm not sure on that one.
IANAL and I don't play one on the forums.

Re: Permit question
Think that one over for a few mins......... using a 302'd person may not be the best idea. Yeah, they may be fine today,,,,, but the Sheriff may run them thru PICS also.
I wouldn't use them. Good luck with your decision.George,
So many guns, so little money.

Re: Permit question
I do not think they are real sticklers for that. I am a Resident of Lycoming Co., but I was recently used as a reference for a new Sullivan Co. Resident.
That said, I have been used as a references on dozens of LTCF applications, as I am a firearms instructor, and Sullivan Co. is the first Sheriff that ever actually contacted me. Not only did he contact me, he did so in writing, sending me a questionnaire to fill out and return in a SASE.
Be safe (and document it in writing).
