Stevens Favorite
I have an old Stevens Favorite in .22 caliber that my grandpa bought back around 1920-24, my dad was born in 1918 and it was bought before he could remember. It is in decent shape but the lever has to be held up to keep the rolling block tightly sealed so I would like to get it checked out and tightened up if possible. I am in the Donegal area so I was wondering if anyone knew of a gunsmith near me that they would trust with something with this much sentimental/real value?

Re: Stevens Favorite
The lever plunger spring is likely compressed or broken, and the lever plunger is not applying force to the link that connects the lever to the breechblock sufficiently to lock the lever upward with the breechblock closed.
I'm too far north of Donegal to know the 'smiths in that area. Pretty much any reputable 'smith should be able to handle something as simple as a Favorite.
Parts are available from Wisner's:

Best of luck, and I hope this helps,
