SB 1193 Nov 23, 2013.
According to the bill, said teachers would have to get 235 certified.

Re: PA proposed law lets teachers carry guns?!!
Snowball and Hell come to mind for the chances of this becoming law.
I can't say that I'd want it to pass.
I am all for armed guards in all school, but arming teachers is not the answer. Their plates are already full with the kids society gives them these days.
A question that is not addressed in the law...who pays for the required classes and 235 certification? The school district or the teacher. And, would teachers get paid more if they took on this responsibility?

Re: PA proposed law lets teachers carry guns?!!
I didn't read the article, but if that is the case those who wrote the proposed bill have very little understanding of Act 235.
Act 235 is required for lethal weapons training IF the carrying/use of a lethal weapon is REQUIRED by the job. Since when do teachers need a .45 to teach math?
(Certainly, some teachers have probably contemplated it LOL)

Simple, they can use the calibers as real world examples of metric and english standard measurements. They can be used in Physics to show how the energy is expended and calculate the foot pounds of force. They can be used in chemistry to explain how gun powder works. Used in History to show how firearms have shaped and changed the world. Gym class for marksmanship. They can also study guns in literature: http://www.english.illinois.edu/maps...kinson/754.htm
All kinds of uses.Rules are written in the stone,

all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Have to agree 1000% - despite the feel-good that would have came from the Newtown and Aurora shooters wasted in their tracks by school personnel.
Schools nowadays have become babysitters for broken homes - babysitters with tons of responsibility and zero authority.
They can't be allowed to correct Junior to teach him basic citizenship for fear of reprisal - they certainly can't be expected to defend his classmates from him by shooting him.All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.

Re: PA proposed law lets teachers carry guns?!!
Several teachers at Newtown put themselves in front of their students and were shot because of it but you think it is a bad thing that they be armed so they at least stood a chance of defending themselves? I'm not sure what armed teachers has to do with a shooting at a movie theater so I'll leave that one alone.

The way I read the person must have ACT120 Municipal Police Officer, Act 2 Deputy Sheriff, ACT 235 Armed Security Officer, HR218 retired law enforcement officer certification or any other certification program not yet described.
