ACSL & PMSC Youth day went very well. We trained about 120 kids in the skills and safety of .22 rifle shooting. I also printed and handed out some PAFOA Pennsylvania Gun Rights Fliers. Talked to at least 7 parents that had LTCF and did not know that OC was legal in Pa at which I proceeded to educate them. All the parents that had a LTCF thought they had strictly concealed carry permits. I’m expecting several to join the forum an explained to resources open to them here. Also talked to Kim Stofer, BearTitan and Montanya for a bit. Over all my wife and I had a great and tiring day. I am a NRA Certified Instructor and Range Safety Officer.

I also agree it was fine day to train so many children in basic safety and firearm use.
Children firearm Safety training is ALWAYS a good thing.

I had a really good time as usual, 15 degrees colder, some cloud cover or a nice steady wind would have made it perfect day. A BIG Thank you to everyone that helped out, that I unfortunately didn't get to meet from PAFOA - to busy working as a instructor and cleaning up after the event.

Team leader #5 really stood out, do know who he was but he kept his group focused and had a roll call to make sure everyone was there, wish all team leaders kept track of all the children in their group like that.

I know that Roland and BearTitan were group leaders. I don't know which ones they were leading though. One was Group 3, I think.
Besides Ed and Cindy, Roland and BearTitan

Stevieb92 and Montanya were working the trap fields

I helped with odds and ends

and of course Whitefeather was there.

There may have been more of PAFOA there, but these are the ones that I can think of.
    Thanks to all

I saw BT doing roll call down at the trap field so I believe that group lead you speak of could be him. Seemed to be doing a great job with the kids.

It was a great event and I was proud to be a part. I gotta give some of the smaller kids props for shooting the shotguns, especially the kids who were about 50 pounds soaking wet and shooting a single shot 20 ga. which seemed to kick quite a bit. They cringed a little, shook it off and went back for more!!!

Yeah, BT certainly had his group well trained!!!

The ACSL web site has the 2008 youth day photos up.

Lots of photo, of children and instructors along with many other support people that gave a up a day of their time to bring the outdoors to the children at this event. A BIG THANKS to ALL that helped out, including the many numerous PMSC members (40 plus) to make it another sucessful ACSL youth day.

Montanya thanks for sharing photos and helping out

One of the people I work with brought their son to this event and just commented to me today how much they especially liked the trap shooting event over past ACSL youth day events, how they felt like they were really involved in a real sport etc.

In past events the children were only allowed to shot 2 times at the trap and not move, at this event they actually got to move to different stations and fire 10 shots.

So job well done by the trap shooters instructors, you got the most favored event from at least this one youth.
