    Default Interesting new PA M1 (Pics)

    Followed me home from gun show in Allenton, PA last weekend

    30-06 M1 Garand Springfield Armory,
    Sept 1944 Receiver, Serial # 312xxxx
    1964 Barrel,
    All USGI Parts,
    Fiberglass Stock,
    Never Fired.
    Only 1 of 12 ever assembled for the PA National Guard 28th. Division Color Guard,
    or so the story goes.

    any comments / insights?

    That's a really neat gun, definitely hang onto it just for collectors sake.

    When I originally posted this we only had a handful of members so bumping to see if any of the newer members can post some insights. The fiberglass stock still intrigues me and have yet to learn any history about it.

    Dave, it looks wicked cool! Have you put an inquiry in with any of the big Garand guys like Scott Duff at all. I know he's a PA guy and located in Export PA, he might have some specific knowledge regarding this guy to help you out. If you find anything out please let us know!

    As far as I ever got was to contact the curator at the PNG museum but he had no info. I have his book but did not know Scott Duff was from PA, I'll contact him next. GCA is also a great suggestion. Use to be a member there but completely forgot about them. Duh.

    Have you contacted the U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center in Carlisle, (717) 245-3972?
