Holster Position for concealed carry
I recently picked up a M&P Shield for concealed carry and I struggle to find a comfortable carry position that works in all situations.
The most comfortable carry position for me is the small of the back around 4 to 5 o'clock. My issue with the small of the back is when driving in the car it is very uncomfortable. For those that carry in this position, what do you do when getting into the car? I don't want to be bothered with taking the holster off and on every time I want to get in the car.
I am curious to hear what others thoughts are on this.

Re: Holster Position for concealed carry
I always carry OWB at 9 o'clock. I'm a lefty. When sitting in the car I pull my cover garmet over and on top of the lap part of the seatbelt.
I wouldn't holster and reholster or mess with it too much.FOAC Member, NRA Member

Re: Holster Position for concealed carry
i carry 3 oclock 99% of the time, when i first started carrying at 21, i used the 4-5 clock position, and quickly realized it was limiting in accessing the gun in certain situations (such as the one you pose)....it was also more natural and instinctive to grab right down at my 3 oclock and at first i gave up a little concealment in switching to the 3oclock but small amount of concealment lost was worth the trade off in personal comfort.

Re: Holster Position for concealed carry
I usually carry IWB at 3clock. I havent always found this comfortable but in the last year or so I like it. make sure your pants are a little loose in the waistband though. In the past I have found appendix IWB comfortable at like the 1 oclock position position.

1911 IWB at 3/3:30. Only been made once while concealed (by another 'gun guy'), but usually don't cover it. Of course, I'm 5'8" and closer to 300# than I care to admit.

I've found a crossdraw at 10:00 is good for driving, with a forward tilt. I just straighten it up a bit when I get out. For serious long term standing and walking, a crossbreed supertuck at 3:00 strong side is very comfortable.

Re: Holster Position for concealed carry
THe Holster you are using makes a world of difference.
What holster and type of holster are you using? OP.
Also your body type makes a world of difference, e.g tall and skinny , short and pudgy, Do you have a spare tire etc. All these come into play.
