    Default PMR30

i am, and always have been, somewhat of a sucker for gimmicky guns. as you can imagine, i have been a big fan (albeit from the sidelines) of the pmr30.

    anyone have one?
    buyers remorse?
more than a gimmick in your opinion?

anyone hear of any shops getting any in ever or taking orders?

i tried to place an order at ace last week but was told they already have 7 people in line and only get one every 6-8 months and arent taking any more orders. (it is of note i tried to put an order in for one over a year ago also). the price was 380 and yes, i know they can be had for 600 on gun broker.

I like odd or gimmicky guns also. If you can afford it buy it. If it does not work out you can always give it to me or sell it.

Owned one for about four months; sold it.

    1. Accurate as all get out.
    2. Ammo finicky. Loved solids from Winchester and CCI.
    3. Threw a massive fireball.
    4. Grip is thin from side to side and wide from front to back; fit the hand "funny."
    5. Trigger was "sucky" like a Glock/XD/XDM/M&P until I did some polishing.
    6. Tiny hot bits would exit the ejection port and sting my hand and arm; ammo dependent.
    7. The notched takedown pin broke; the original and the first replacement. The groove is angled at the bottom instead of radiused, possibly setting up a stress riser.

I installed the 2nd replacement pin and sold it.

Typical Kel-Tec, IMO. Something's always breaking or f__ked up.

I have one of the earliest models (purchased for $295 in November of 2010). It has been rebuilt by Kel-Tec three times as I had problems and improvements to the design were introduced. I am not complaining about the rebuilds, I expected to be a beta tester on this innovative design. All in all, I've put over 7,500 rounds through it, and like it a lot. I've used it in Police Pistol Competitions and scored well. Although I've run just about all available .22mag ammo through it, I've settled on Hornady Critical Defense and Federal Game-Shok 50gr.

Like mentioned above, it does have a big flash (although the Hornady ammo reduces this somewhat), and is LOUD! I keep mine clean and slick (Gun Butter) and have no feeding issues, albeit I only load my magazine to 25 rounds. I purchased it because I like the .22mag cartridge and have other firearms in that caliber. I plan on getting the matching carbine, if it is ever produced.

I don't plan on getting rid of mine, unless it is to upgrade to an OD Green one.

I have wanted one since they first came out but never found one at a local shop for a fair price. I am not paying the stupid prices most are getting for them. (will only pay $350 or less because I know what they cost from keltec) If keltec can't put out enough guns to at least keep up with 10% of the demand they should not bother coming out with new guns. It seems to be the same old story with them.
