Default AR15 Pistols in 22LR - Affordable Plinker - Who Makes Them?

I have at least a few months to research this and save up the money to proceed, but I was wondering if anyone knows of any other manufacturers that offer a .22LR "AR15" pistol?

Also, if you own one, what are your likes/dislikes?

Initially I was only aware of the Chiappa M4-22 pistol which I had planned on buying, as I already have a Chiappa M4 22LR UPPER for my AR15, and it has run well for me. I already have at least a dozen mags (including a 50 rd drum) that could be shared with the pistol version.

    Chiappa M4-22 pistol

I'd prefer to get something that uses the mags I already own. The Chiappa factory mags as well as the Black Dog mags are interchangeable with many 22AR variants and conversion kits currently on the market.

Note: How can that carry handle work as "sights"?
Wouldn't that only be the REAR sight? Maybe they created a carry handle with the front blade built into the front? I need to look into THAT.

Which brings us to one that does NOT use the same mags. (unfortunately)

    The S&W M&P 15-22P (pistol)

Apparently this is no longer in production. Heh. Who knew? I didn't even know it existed until yesterday.

Anyway, while the M&P series of 22LR ARs are a proven design, I do not like the fact that they use a proprietary mag.

    H&K / Uramex HK 416 22LR pistol

I couldn't find any company info on these.
They appear to be made of metal as opposed to polymer.
I believe Uramex makes the Colt branded LR AR15s. Not sure if they share the same mags, or if they are a proprietary type of mag.

Do you know of any others that I've missed?

    THANKS!

I have a 15-22 pistol. There are many aftermarket mags for the gun but I like the S&W mags because of the built in loading button in the side. Using Plinker Tac mags requires a seperate tool to purchase to make life easier. I've got about 1-2k rounds through mine all with a suppressor attached. It's a nice gun.

Just thowing a review out their incase you do some gunbroker searching.

It appears that Sig also makes one and don't forget about GSG

    Really? I don't see one.
GSG doesn't make one either as far as I know. (not an AR-type)

I may consider another type if I find something that piques my interest, but I'd prefer an AR15 style that accepts mags I already have on hand.

I think the aftermarket mags for yours are still specific to that firearm though where mine can be used in any Ciener/Atchisson type gun.

    EDIT: Found it!

    Sig Sauer 522 pistol

Have to look and see what type of mags they use. That may work, but I'm not crazy about the overall size.
It's getting into that "stupid big" category with .223 and AK47 "pistols".

    Forgot about this one.

    Kel-Tec PLR-22 pistol

I'm pretty sure these use standard Black Dog / Ciener/Atchisson compatible mags.

Cdnn has $239 complete AR uppers. (Not CTD, don't panic).

Buy one of those, a $100 lower, and a $50 lpk from psa. $400 otd.

What are you talking about? a .22LR PISTOL upper?
    Really?

I think you're talking about the carbine upper. (which is a pretty good price btw)

Why a 22LR AR pistol? Just so the magazines are interchangeable with your rifle? I haven't handled one but it seems like they would be front end heavy which would require you to use both hands to keep the barrel stable. I'd consider something like the UZI Pistol from Walther, it gives you 20 rounds of 22LR but without being unwieldy.

I thought I had seen pistol or carbine length on a recent ad of theirs.

Yes. So I can use the same mags. I think I've mentioned that several times now.

That's the thing I like about the Chiappa - it's SMALL - the front isn't long at all, and being made of polymer, it's light.
I don't like that Sig pistol at all for that reason - the front area is too long for my taste and that H&K is made of metal (aluminum?) so I don't know how heavy it is.
I want to be able to shoot it with one hand - with EASE - if I should choose to do so.

And I don't want to have to buy other mags. I'm tired of buying mags. LOL

I was just wondering if that was your only reason and that is totally reasonable, magazines are expensive.
Sanity, yours if you can keep it.....
