Default Makarov safety/ decocker spring broke. Anyone replace one?

In an attempt to rebend the safety detent spring on my mak I may have snapped it in half. I've already ordered a new spring but can't seem to find how the part is replaced inside of the safety lever.

I tried with a piece of paper clip so I could fingers out how it mounts but can't for the Life of me figure it out.

Any pictures of your safety selector removed from the gun would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Makarov safety lever reverse side showing detent spring staked in place:

You may have to open the staked area (dimpled area beside the spring loop) to make clearance for installation of the new spring, then restake right next to the staked area.

    Hope this helps,

    Noah

PS, not directed at anyone in particular:

Don't EVER try to bend or stretch a spring. There will be many people who say "BS! I did it on so-and-so with no problem!" but there are just as many people who've attempted to reshape a spring and had it break.

The problem is you can't tell by looking at a spring if it's been hardened, or hardened and tempered, or the carbon content of the wire or steel from which the spring is made. Anyone attempting to reshape a spring is taking a huge chance that it will break. Some people are lucky, others aren't. Bend at your own risk, and don't be surprised if it turns into an "Oh, f__k!" moment.

^true story. I figured a new spring is $4. A new safety with spring installed is $30.

The safety spring was completely loose. Just flopping around. Figured it couldn't be any worse.
