Default Re: Good Pistol and Rifle range in Berks?

Update: I went ahead and joined Heidelberg. I downloaded an application off the web, and dropped it off on a saturday morning. Happened to meet the President of the club that day who gave me a quick overview of the range. Seems like a great club and great people. Looking forward to shooting there!

They have Rifle ranges for 100/75/50 yrds, Pistol for 25 and 50 (Not sure who uses and is accurate at 50 yrds with a pistol! other than those single shot hunting handguns!) and they are planning a new defensive pistol range this spring. Trap shoots and Archery along with a walk thru archery range and elevated stands to practice shooting from a treestand. They even have air rifle ranges which are great for taking kids and introducing them to the sport. It sounds like you are very close to this club so I would recommend checking it out.
Mohnton sounds great too. It's literally 10 min from me, if that. Maybe for those days when I'm short on time and can't drive the 40 minutes or so out to Heidelberg. Website says to get an application at the bar and then come to a public event to find two sponsors. Does that sound about right?

Glad you found a club. Yes you can stop by the club house and pick up an application. They also hold public events like dances and such mostly on Fridays (check the website) That is when you can probably fill out your Application and get 2 sponsers. That is what I did and it was pretty easy! You can also do the public meeting. But I will almost bet if you stop by the club house you can get your sponsers and fill out your application. I believe they open up at 6:30pm.

Get 2 sponsors and have a beer I bet, no shooting of course. Sounds like a good night for me!

I am also a member and a fan of Mohnton. Mostly because it's more than a place to shoot.

Join the Muhlenberg Area Shooting Association. The range is owned by the Muhlenberg Police, and is available for civilian use, dawn to dusk, as long as it has not been reserved by a Berks agency (posted at gate and on the website under Range Closings.

I assume what warrantbrent is referring to is that not only is it a good place to shoot, it does have a nice clubhouse, great people, pretty good food. Plus they have other activites, Quoits Leauges, Archery, Social events (dances, Bingo,) you can rent an outside pavilone or the inside hall for personal events. You should definetly check it out since it is so close to you.

Not much info on web site as to the type and number of ranges. No photos.
    No schedule of competitions?
