I believe it's legal as long as the FFL in Texas complies with all Pa laws and calls in to PICS.

When I was in Alaska a few years ago I was going to buy a shottie and the FFL in Delta Junction couldn't decifer the PA laws and even a call to BATFE didn't answer his questions and he couldn't get through to PSP so he declined to make the sale. Back in Juneau however the FFL's including Wal-Mart had all the laws posted, state by state, what you could and couldn't buy depending on your state of residence.

    Hope it helps.

What are you buying? Where do you live? pa?

    INTERstate transfers:
Firearms need to be transferred in the buyers state... So no
Have them ship it to an FFL in PA. Can't take it with you

Long guns can be transferred in any state... So yes
Ship it back or fly it back, but consider TX state law for the drive to the airport from the FFL

I would just have it shipped to your local FFL. Also ask your local FFL if you can have a copy of their license for you to bring to Texas in case you do end up buying something. Most gun shops won't ship unless they have a copy of the FFL. By having it on you in person, that'll save a lot of time....or so I'd imagine.

Your profile says you live in Jersey. Flying from PA and back doesn't mean much.

The gun you purchase must be legal to own in Texas and your state of residence (Jersey?)

You can take possession of long guns at an FFL in either Texas or your state of residence. As a Jersey resident, you will have to provide the Texas FFL your FID and completed COE.

You can purchase a handgun in Texas but can only take possession in your state of residence (Jersey?) You will need your jersey handgun purchase permit and completed COE.

You have to use an FFL . No choice
You also need to consider federal law not just state

No matter what you must abide by federal law first.

So, you can only have a long gun transferred to you by a FFL while in TX.

Handguns - they must be shipped to a FFL in PA to transfer to you here.

You absolutely cannot do a private transfer while in TX. All transfers must be through a FFL. Violation of this is a federal felony for you and the seller.

TX's laws are more lenient than PA's when it comes to handguns. Both, TX and PA, follow federal rule for long guns.

Assuming you are a resident of Pennsylvania and allowed to purchase firearms, yes.

The PA FFL is the one who will do the transfer to you, you'll need to do PICS paperwork and pay a fee. It's a good idea to check with your preferred local FFL beforehand so you can figure out whether he'll accept the transfer and what fees he'll charge.
