New Resident
I've been living here for a couple of months now so I thought I would take a moment to introduce myself to some of the other members here.
The bad: I'm a New York refugee from the SAFE Act.
The good: I'm an Active Duty Army vet, and still a Reservist. I'm a voter (held up the line at the Drivers License office all of 30 seconds so I could check the appropriate boxes to register). I call, write, and donate to the pro-freedom politicians that we need support.
I moved into a nice home in the woods in Shohola Township in October and love it. I've been lurking on these boards since January of last year when the SAFE Act passed and finally decided to come out of hiding.
All the neighbors are gun folk, I can shoot on my 7 acres, and is so wonderfully quiet. It's like growing up in rural Western NY again. Sadly, living in the Hudson Valley didn't do it for me anymore. I continue to work in the Hudson Valley, making for just about a 1 hour commute, but it is worth it given what I have to come home to.
I know there are many out there who say New Yorkers should stick it out and fight against unjust laws. I say to them that I've fought against those laws my entire life. And I haven't even been able to own something as benign as a SBR due to the political boundaries.
I'm excited to finally be living in America (again).
Just wanted to take a minute to introduce myself!

Re: New Resident
Welcome and beautiful country up that way...I am happy for you able to leave behind the PR of NY and move to a more free state, but we still have our own battles and hope you get involved in supporting/fighting legislations in your new home state now!

Re: New Resident
Welcome to the forum. I moved out here from Orange County about 8 years ago. The only time I cross that river is when I have to go to work.

Re: New Resident
Welcome. Glad to see pro gun people moving from NY to PA rather than anti gun people. I think you will like it here.

Re: New Resident
Welcome to the area. I'm new to the forum as well, but I was born and raised here in Pike. It's definitely a nice area, but as others have said, we have some own battles going on here also. Alot of city people coming in and trying to run things with no regards to our way of life, mainly in Dingmans/Milford area, Shohola is a better area though. If you have any questions about anything in the area feel free to ask!

Re: New Resident
Welcome to PA. I am also a past NY resident from Orange county. Unfortunately I still work in NY, figure might as well take the money and run. I also do a hour commute each way to work.
Actually been 17 years of commute for me .... 120 miles a day round trip.
Keep your eyes on these forums, ALOT of great info. Also watch for the pike area Meet-N-Greet. I will soon be working on the 2014 one so stay tuned...
Snert..
