Walther PPK/S, .380 or .22?

Lately i've become interested in adding a PPK/S to the collection and need some advice. It would be mainly for the range, not for SD/HD. Here's what i've researched:

.380 ACP
Pros: Higher caliber, better construction
Cons: More expensive, need to add another caliber to the stockpile

.22 LR
Pros: Less expensive, ammo cheaper and shared with other guns i have
Cons: "pot metal" alloy construction, super heavy DA trigger pull

Maybe it comes down to authenticity vs plinking fun?

Anyone have both and can comment? Anything other considerations? Which would you choose?

I'd go with the 22 if you already got your SD and HD covered. I've been wanting a 22 to play with cause I have nothing but big and medium bore guns.

Don't buy a Smith & Wesson. Look on gun broker and buy one of the used Interarms imports. Way better gun. Will run around $450 for real nice one. Walther started making them in 1930's S&W bought Walther and started making them and had to have a recall. How can you screw up copying a 70 plus year old pistol? My wife carries an Interarms PPK .380 SS.

A PPK(/S) would be a collector piece for me and a low round count. I would want one as it was carried for its original purpose, pistole polizei or police pistol. Something tells me the guys who carried these did not carry them in .22.

Also do you think James Bond would carry a .22? I dont think so.

Then again I have a .380 EDC so I already have a healthy supply of ammo.

In the original Bond book, Casino Royale (1954 or 1955) as I cannot remember which of these years I read it in the UK, Bond used a 0.22 LR Beretta. Dave_n

Owned a PPK, it was one of the few handguns I ever sold. Accurate as heck, but no fun to shoot with such a small backstrap, and back then 380 ammo was twice 9mm or .38. If you have a carry piece, then buy the .22 (go for a Ruger single six if possible). Half the cost, ammo is less, and it's easier to shoot.
