Re: 1st 300 blackout kill
can you explain your reasoning behind this post? I shoot running deer all the time while gun hunting, with open sites on a slug gun. seems every gun season people make comments along the lines of shooting a running deer is unethical or unsafe yadda yadda. I never understood the mindset behind it. when we set up for a drive everything is being looked at the whole time and shooting lanes are set for everyone, when walking through the woods its eyes up and looking all the time knowing whats in front of you and beyond, and when your in a tree stand you spend literally hours looking at your surroundings. so if a deer runs by at anytime your ready and can safely shoot it, or at least shoot at it depending how crack of a shot you are.

Re: 1st 300 blackout kill
Over 90% of the deer I've shot or shot at were running, most on drives or after being shot at by somebody else.
I'll bet that more deer than you think are shot on the run vs standing still in a picture perfect pose.
This isn't your favorite tv show where big bucks are a dime a dozen and follow the script, its PA where deer camp is real hunters who work hard and make deer move. Every year our group looks forward to the drives lots of fun lots of action from deer you normally wouldn't see move in daylight and it's when we get our biggest deer.ZRT: SECTOR 3(SNIPER) Among othe tasks...

Re: 1st 300 blackout kill
like I said- im happy ya didn't shoot anything else. the 300 blackout is a fine cartridge, maybe a little different from a slug gun though.

Re: 1st 300 blackout kill
You should probably only shoot at them if they're on a certified shooting range also, lol.

Re: 1st 300 blackout kill
Nice buck for a Blackout. When I lived in Commie Jersey the only way we could get the deer out of the pines was to drive them. They ran like Bambi did when the fire approached. Wait for them to run by and blast away. I guess some people shoot running deer in their neighborhoods or crossing other property. I don't get his post either, he has no idea where you hunt.
