Getting started in Schuylkill
Hey everybody. I grew up in Hamburg and moved to Sch. Haven this past summer. I grew up in a home where the only gun was a pellet rifle, but I've been shooting a couple of times and am looking to get into the sport. I'm looking for a good shop to get my first pistol. I've been reading about the Burma road range and I drive past it often for work. Does anybody know if the shop in Haven is open? The sign says it is but it looks pretty empty still.
Thanks guys

I think he mean Kerschners. Or what used to be Kerschners. From what I understand, someone else bought the place when the original owner became sick. I could be wrong though, I haven't been in the place since it closed down due to the original owner's sickness. He was a great guy to deal with, though unfortunately, I'm unable to comment on the new owner.
One option for the OP is OnTarget gunshop in Frackville. Easy to find and his prices are probably some of the best within a hour's drive, if not more.

I think he might mean Schuylkill Haven Gun Works I think its called. Not sure of the address but if your on 61 turn onto 443/dock street and follow that to the stop sign. Make a right and it will be on your left down the street a little across from a beer distributor. I was there the other day he didn't really have anything in stock gun wise. A couple Glocks and a few Rugers. He said he can order anything I wanted in and he charges $20 over his cost. Even let me look at his book.

Take a look in Orwigsburg too. There is a new place down there. Shakeys' Gun Shop. He has a good selection of handguns.
