Default First range trip with my S&W Model 915

WARNING: This content written by an average shot who is entirely too happy with an average target. You have been warned.

Like I said, I recently purchased a Smith & Wesson Model 915. I took it to the range for the first time today. Now, I consider myself maybe a high-end-of-just-fair shot. My trip to the range was to test the pistol's function, and to see what kind of accuracy I could wring out of it in spite of my glitches.

First, no mechanical malfunctions in 100 rounds (Sellier & Bellot 147gr. JHP 9mm Luger). No failures to do anything. I didn't expect any, since I have seen videos of these pistols feeding and ejecting a full magazine of fired casings. The pistol is a very soft shooter. The sights are better than my eyes. Shoots to point of aim. The trigger has a very small take-up, and then trips cleanly. The reset is about 1/8 inch. I loved the trigger. The grips are, of course, a bit wider than a single stack Smith & Wesson, but interestingly, about 3/32 narrower than the grip on my CZ-82. Very comfortable to shoot. This was my second 15-shot magazine, fired at about 18 yards:

A lot of people would not be happy with this target, but me, well, I have an uncontrollable happy goofy grin on my face. I don't consider this to be too bad for being in the 'getting to know you" phase.

If someone tells you something good about the 915, believe it.

Nine holes outside the 10 ring, you suck,.

Now that that's out of the way, you and the gun did good.

You and your gun are quite capable of shooting "Minute of Bad Guy".. I would be happy with those results any day !

I agree. These results from that distance are pretty good. After more familiarity with the S&W, it just gets better.

You're a bit modest, but that's probably a good quality. Now, for the real story...did you get to shoot 115 gr and 124 gr to see how they compare on your target? (hey, someone had to ask...might as well have been me ) Since some of us are curious, please post the results when you do so we can see if we have to eat any of our words.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

I burn my targets right there on the backstop. I don't even risk anyone seeing them stuffed in the trash barrel.

    Nice shooting.

Definitely good enough to take down an adversary.

I had 147grain on hand, and wanted to try 124 grain, but they did not have it at the range. I do intent to try all three, though. And I am not surprised to be asked.
