It was on the local news last night.

White guy pumped gas and went to pay. Hispanic was coming out of store and the 2 exchanged words that escalated into the Hispanic pulling a gun. The White guy took the gun away from the Hispanic and told him to back off (twice) the Hispanic continued to advance and the white guy shot him in the thigh. The police took the White guy into custody and was later released. Based on eye witness accounts the police felt it was self defense. The DA is reviewing the evidence to see what charges if any should be brought.

The news didn't mention the after the fact interaction with the other guy.

    From this story:

Bobby Wilson who had just grabbed some coffee and cigarettes across the street saw what was happening and disarmed the gunman. “At that time ran over and grabbed the gun,” he said. “I didn’t know who was good and who bad in this scenario. So — after that — I said what I said to him, and then the girl handed me the phone with 911 — the clerk over there — and talking to them, I took the round out of the chamber, dropped the clip and told them not to shoot me ’cause I was holding the gun.”

Wilson should have been arrested for calling the mag a clip

Shoot to wound, not to stop? Was he in fear for his life or not?

One shot and the attack stopped. I see no issue. Don't drink the Kool-aid that every shot in every situation must be multiple shots to COM.

We don't know the distance. A lot of people could miss by that much under stress.

“One of the men, a Hispanic male, had a .45-caliber gun and was pointing it at a white male,” Wilson said. “The white male disarmed him, took the gun and twice told the Hispanic male to back up.”
It was a .45, that should have been a lethal wound, I suspect the gun was defective.
