Default State Police: No assault weapon registration totals for you!

More *ull *hit from New York State. How much more BS do people have to take from a anti-gun state Government? Could it be that NO one is complying with the stupid law?

State Police: No assault weapon registration totals for you!

“It is absolutely appalling,” said Barbara Bartoletti, legislative director for the state League of Women Voters, which supported the SAFE Act.

A major component of Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s NY SAFE Act gun control law is a state secret.

Almost a year after the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement Act was passed by lawmakers and signed by the governor, state officials say they aren’t required to reveal how many people have registered assault weapons with the state.

The law appears to have been written with such secrecy in mind — but it’s become apparent only as requests for that information are being denied.

The law specifically exempts this information from disclosure, so where is the surprise. Do you really want the State to be forced to reveal who has registered? Then gun-owners' names will be published by the LEague of Woman voters, the Times Union or others.

My thoughts exactly! Their dear leader doesn't want to appear weak when they let it slip that only four people in the whole state complied....or was that signups in Delaware for Obummercare?

Nobody was asking for names (yet), only how many were registered. I don't see the big deal, the PSP publishes how many ltcf's were issued each year but keeps the names private. You are correct though, the law as written forbids disclosure of even the numbers, according to the cited article anyways.

There is a giant difference between giving out names and addresses, and saying XX,XXX "assault weapons" have been registered.

No I don't! NO names or other info that would identify any one!
The only info asked for is how many? Just a number nothing else!
There is no reason not to release it?
