Their knowledge of firearms is a joke. I once got into an argument about ammo with an associate who didn't know the difference between round nose & full-metal jacket.
A lot of the kayak stuff they sell is bottom barrel priced to sell to newbies and it's nothing I'd want to be out on the creek in. I could see going down Pine Creek Canyon and having some of their kayaks split on some of the rocks and leaving me stranded 10 miles from the nearest road.

Ugh, not this shit again. I'm going to go start a thread to inform everyone of my sneaking suspicion that Obama doesn't like the 2nd amendment very much.

Ok, jumped ahead after I read the neg Dick's thread. Honestly did Not know. Once I stopped laughing about the unripened pineapple and pygmie goat, I have a story to share.

Quite some years back, oh, maybe 5 or more, I went to Dicks and stopped short at the sign on the door. Pissed off, returned to my truck and soothed my whimpering holstered friend, assuring him I would take care of this. I called the store and explained my situation, that being, I wanted to give them money for merchandise, but wasn't willing to trust my personal safety to their management or their frickin' sign. The manager apologized all over himself and told me they want me in their store and assured me the sign was for (from thence day forward) only persons so stupid to bring in a firearm for "gunsmithing" purposes (HA! yeah, as if!). I admit my sins before the court, that I have several times purchased items from the same Dick's at Dicks since, but I confess ignorance to any Corporate policy. I will proffer an email expounding on my profound disgust and share any response forthcoming with y'uns. Should be worth a giggle or two.

In the mean time, fuck Dicks. Thanks for the info.

God forbid you should ever try to buy a Gun there, the "employees" will do everything possible to try to talk you out of buying a Gun and i found out why- they are too lazy or just do not want to take the time to do the paperwork.
To buy a gun they will have to acknowledge your presence and that's a no no.
I bought a Gun at the Dick's in the Roosevelt field mall on long Island about 8 years ago and the transaction took about 3 hours.
It took them about an hour to verify that i could buy a long gun anywhere in New York state using my New York city "Pistol License" They had to call one of their big shots to verify that first, then another 2 hours just doing the transaction , then when you are done they escort you out the door with the Gun. Very demeaning, never been back.

Not to defend dicks but look were you were at.

I've only been to ones in VA Beach and the one at the mall sucked but the one in Pembroke was ok. Though I never thought about getting a gun there. But waaaay back they had bulk packs on LRN 9mm for a good $ perfect for Bowling pin matches I did then.

Why do you think they call it Dick's?

I got in touch with Dicks online and pretty much got the runaround. Did chat with some lady who seemed like a computer response because she wasn't getting the gist of my question. When I asked her if she was computer or a real live person, she got kinda pissy.

I got an email reply from another contact that only addressed my question from the viewpoint of buying a guy and/or ammo and how they follow the rules of the locale of the store.

Anybody have a reliable contact where I can really piss off some suits?

Not surprised to hear they don't allow firearms. After the stunt they pulled taking rifles off the shelves, I will never buy anything from them or even go there ever again. They are not 2nd Amendment friendly and they proved that months ago. Hope they lost your business for good.
