    Default Sig P229 German Model

Is the German model still out there? I am considering buying a P229, but want the older model, unless there is no good reason to look for this. Any info on this gun I certainly appreciate your time.

I believe the p229's were the first US made sigs so there would be no German ones. I could be wrong but I think I remember reading that somewhere
Now less Glock, more H&K :)

There was a limited number of all German P229s out a few years ago. Triple serial numbered and proofed, etc. Not sure how many were imported, but they pop up once in awhile over on SigForum.

I was the first kid on my block to get a .357 SIG P229...I got this one so early that I had to put it in the safe and wait 6 or 7 months for ammo to become available for the pistol. Federal was the first manufacturer to come up with ammo.

The P229 frame was West German made and new Stainless Steel Side that was used on the 229 was made in the US. The frames were shipped to the US and they were mated with a US made slide in the US of A.

Here's the box end label. In checking around, last ones seem to have sold out from dealers in late 2011 to early 2012.

Thank you! Any advantage to having the frame made in Germany?

Is that a gun you own? I just looked at my P229 and its end label was 6 serial #'s later. Mine has the 3 serials on the frame, barrel, & slide.

the new ones, i really don't think so. the older ones, the w. german ones, i do think so. i have a 1994 w. german 225, and it just feels different. it feels good.

but that might just be the soul of the gun that speaks to me. from an operation stand point, it's a sig P-series pistol. it is gonna run no matter what.
