    Lightbulb Striker Fired Rifle

So I had a strange passing thought today. Why don't we have striker fired rifles? Some of the planet's most reliable pistols use a striker system. Why not try and make a rifle with the same system...

    Thoughts?

Thats a VZ 58. They are pretty cool. Look like an AK act like an AK and shoot 7.62 but are fairly different from an AK in the way they are built.

Was shooting the folding stock version of that gun today. the VZ2008.

To get all technical, the VZ2008 is a Century copy of the Czech VZ-58. Some would say the build quality is inferior to the real Czech VZ-58. The VZ-58 is a weapon way ahead of its time. The rifle is a short stroke gas pistol design, striker fired (as mentioned above) that takes standard capacity magazines and can also reload from stripper clips. The rifle is much lighter than an AK and has nothing in common with the AK other than the 7.62x39mm chambering.

Is there anything from Century that isn't a lower quality than the original? I have a number of their products and my opinion is you get what you pay for.

I would like to know the answer too. My guess is that hammer semi auto rifles only have 1 trigger pull compared to hammer semi auto handguns? I personally would like to see a striker fired semi auto rifle with the Glock FCG.

Century no longer imports them. But you can get them from czechpoint. I have one of their rifles and I am very happy with it. It's a great rifle.

Actualy there are a lot of striker fired rifles and carbines. Uzi, Sten, Sterling, RPD, etc. Some striker systems are finiky and dont always have the oomph to set off the hard primers of cheap "russian" or "surplus" ammo.
