Default PA universities "may allow guns on campus"

Came across this and didn't see it posted elsewhere yet.

    HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -
The Board of Governors of Pennsylvania's State System of Higher Education is mulling over a policy that would allow students at the 14 state-owned universities to carry concealed firearms in certain places.

Under the policy, firearms would not be allowed at sporting events or inside recreational buildings, classrooms, dorms, dining halls or student union centers.

Students at Millersville University have mixed reactions to this debate.*

"I just don't think it's a good idea," Nick Fortna said. "We have enough problems here as it is with crime and parties."

"For me, living off campus, I would appreciate that because I have to walk everywhere and I live pretty far that walking by myself at night is pretty intense," Allyson Ferraro said.

The state is still going through the public opinion process, but a decision on the policy could come as early as January.

If accepted, the concealed firearms policy on university campuses would go into effect next fall.

So, you'll be able to have a gun on the campus, but not inside of any building including residences and at class.

How is that any better than as it is now?

Perhaps the idea here is that prior, they were expelling any student found to carry (concealed?) firearms anywhere in the world without relation to the school or university. They don't really want firearms on campus, so the only place to carry them is the green fields, but there is no where to store the firearm when doing any real business or activity on campus, so firearms will virtually remain uncarried.

However, it is not clear if 'concealed' is stress in this policy, so those who keep firearms off campus to carry onto campus openly to exercise a sense of 1A+2A advocacy now have an inroads to a very public place.

Question Re: PA universities "may allow guns on campus"

I don't get it. They will be allowed to carry in certain places? Where would that be?

These are steps, but I have a beef with the limits of where you can carry. What is a person going to do with his legal sidearm when he gets to Building A to go to class, or the dorm at the end of class? I went to visit my son at a State University and knowing he wanted to show me his dorm room, I then had to decide whether to carry from home and lock it in the car, or leave it at home all together.
This makes it a moot point at best and does little to allow anyone other than pedestrians to exercise their 2A right.

Why? It's a "STUDENT"-policy. Signs are not prominently posted above the stony gates and you're not passing thru metal-detectors----YET!

    Concealed means just that!

I carry when I visit my son on campus as well as my alma mater and ALL other place I can BY LAW!
