    Default Shoulder rigs

Does anyone use one? What type of gun, how is the concealability?

I use one, usually in the wintertime.
Seems to me a vertical one works best, for me anyway.

I use to use one years ago with a S&AW 66... really liked it... concealed extremely well and ease of access and use were very good. I preferred the horizontal mode... didnt like the idea of the barrel sticking up into my armpit... but that is a matter of preference. Other side held 2 speed loaders and the balance was excellent.

Light jacket covered up in spring and fall...

Well Keith, you saw me strolling out from my house with one on...LOL

My home made crude one conceals very well, just wish it was more comfortable. If I added belt loop-ons to hold it steady, it won't shift which may be why it causes me problems. But I was trying to copy the Galco Miami style... Yes I made it with leather too.

I use a verticle holster year round. I carry my S&W686-4"bbl. It works well to OC as well as in the cooler months to CC. It is my choice to use while hunting.

What kind of problems? Silly question maybe, but women are different than men.

Aren't the only true shoulder rigs galco ??? Lol, I've wanted and looked at getting a jackass holster for so long. I think the only way I'd probably go with a jackass holster here though is if open carry was allowed. Oh well, I guess I'll have to wait until we get the laws changed around, maybe one of these days. I hear that they're very comfortable, especially for larger pistols that aren't as easy to carry IWB.

Ok, I'm super cheap and use a vertical Uncle Mikes.

Would like to get leather some day, though.

    I have a S&W .38 with 4" and a Ruger Security Six .357 w. 6" barrel.

It seems a vertical is really the only way to hide the 6" barrel.

The Ruger came with a nice leather belt holster but it allows the barrel to protrude down too far to cover it up for CC. (And the other problem is keeping my pants up with that much weight on one side!)

The shoulder holster gives balance with off-side speed loaders and makes it easier to use the toilets as the gun can stay on you.

It shift and pulls on my shoulders. I already have bad shoulders and an achy neck and it creates fatigue from the weight of the gun. I always carry a full spare mag on the other side ( I made a dbl mag pouch) to try and counterbalance, but the rig is loose and shifts, that is why I will add belt loop ons, to keep this shifting down.

Really not a big deal at this time as I only wear it around the house and property. But by this next trapping season I should have a FL nonres ccw, and should I opt to trap in PA this season, I would like to wear the shoulder rig with the XD9 for protection against those 2 legged varmints.
