    Default Fair price for 7.62x39

Just wondering if anyone could give me a general fair price on 7.62x39. Just got an SKS (first semi-auto rifle, FINALLY) and after shooting it I can see where I am going to go through A LOT of ammo . Online it seems to vary greatly. Guns Priced Right has it for 28 dollars for a 100 round box of Tulammo FMJ, so that's what I've been going with for now.

Is that a good price? I need to get to wally world and check their prices/availability out.

Mt.Pleasant has tula for 5.17 per box, but if you have the money anything fior 250 per 1000 shipped is a decent price anymore

Walmart has it for 5.17 for a box of 20. So about $26 for a hundred rounds.

I've seen a 1000 rounds going online over the past month or two for anywhere from $240 to $280 but not sure what the shipping charges were or how they would affect the overall price.

Thanks guys. I'll swing by Wal-Mart later and see what they have. I really thought the 100 rounds I bought with the gun would last me longer. Silly me.

Wally World sells Tulammo FMJ as well. After sales tax, it's roughly about the same as you're spending now, but they have a 3 box limit (20 round boxes) when the ammo is actually in stock. Which, 7.62x39 seems to be coming more readily available at most Walmarts lately.

Here's a good source for finding ammo online at good prices. The cost of shipping isn't included in the prices, which obviously will bring the price per round up a bit:

Don't forget to check the classifieds. I've seen several people selling 7.62x39 for about $0.25/round.

Edit-After sales tax, it comes to $0.27/round at Walmart.

Best I've found on Gunbot recently is about $265/case shipped to PA. I've been waiting to buy a case, hoping it hits 250 shipped.

If you're a Sportsmans Guide member, you can get Brown Bear for 263/case. If not, 278. I just don't like the idea of 'joining' their club for $30/year. If I bought 3 cases/year I would just break even. And I don't belong to Sam's or BJ's either Not worth it for me.

Now with that, I may change my mind. If you had the discount with the free shipping, that probably would be worth it. Thanks for the info.

Anywhere from $5-$6 is within reason for a box of 20. $6 being a little high but not insane.
