    Default montgomery county ltcf

Good morning everybody I just moved to a township in Montgomery County we have no local police department and I'm trying to get my wife through the process of obtaining her LTCF should I go right down to the state trooper barracks in Skippack or the Norristown Court House for all the necessary paperwork?

    thanks a lot

State Police is not the correct venue for application. Go to the Sheriff's Office in the Courthouse. It is all done there.

Montco has that "requirement" of the Police Check card. So it sounds like since you don't have a local dept. you have to go the the PSP.

I believe the Montco sheriff has the Police Check card form on it's website to download.

Then after you get that card back from PSP, go to the sheriff to apply for the LTCF.

Or, I guess now the sheriff will do the local police check for you, but the wait is longer for the LTCF.

The only problem I see is Montgomery county requires a local police to write off on the person.

If you have no local police I don't know what do. Try call the sheriff's dept for an answer.

Side note: The sheriff of Montco,PA looks like Allison Janney from Mom or West
    Wing.

    IANAL

You could have the Sheriff's Office do the "local police check" for you, but they may take up to the full 40 days to issue. That would involve just going to the Court House and submiting the normal application.

Trying to get the State Police to do it may be just as slow, I'm not sure. We haven't heard of many people trying to go that route without a local PD in Montco.

FYI, if you didn't know, as per state law, the Montco Sheriff should not be requiring this "extra step".

Go to courthouse. Apply. Wait. Get license sometime in the next 40 some days.

    or,

Get police check card filled out by... police. Go to courthouse. Apply. Get license right then and there.

Do I need to have the check card already filled out when I go to the courthouse or can I do it all there? Thanks
