    Default Sig's P239 8 round mag = WEAK

Looking at the mag, it could clearly hold 1 or possibly 2 more rounds.

    Why cap it at 8?

The G19 which isnt a whole lot bigger holds 15...

    WTH?

    Weak Sig, WEAK!!!

The SIG p239 is a great gun to me. I actually prefer the smaller mag.

It is much smaller than Glock in all dimensions.

It also comes factory with night sights.

Great little gun in my own opinion .

I actually like it as well, just wish it held more.

I dont really have an issue with the size of the mag but theres room for 1 or 2 more rounds.

It comes with factory night sights? Mine didnt.

But I just had it sent it to Sig for their service and had some installed.

I dunno, I carried a P239 for a while. I ended up ditching it because it always seemed to feel just as thick as a double stack gun to me. Anyway you play it it's just not thin/small enough to justify the low capacity, at least in my existence. Great shooter though, I can't really disparage the gun itself, just its application as a carry gun.

The spring, follower, and floorplate take up more room inside the mag than you think, so while it looks like it should hold more, it just won't. Some people have been known to make adjustments to any of these things to allow one more round to fit in, especially if the mag will hold 8.5 rounds.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

I wouldn't say it is "weak", it is just a single stack design vs a double stack. The P239 is a fine pistol, and some prefer the all metal/alloy guns to plastic. In this class I prefer the HK P7 series, but again that is an 8 + 1 pistol.

Yep. I like to use this reference when people talk about low cap mags. You can do it virtually with any gun if you practice, a lot, and don't mind untweaking the mag feed lips while you're learning: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2GsmUzSBaUQ It helps to have at least 3 or 4 extra mags, as well. Sucks because the P239 mags aren't that cheap.

Actually, that depends on which Glock you're talking about:

    P239
    Length 6.6 in
    Width 1.2 in
    Height 5.1 in
    Weight (with mag) 29.5 oz

    G26
    Length 6.41 in
    Width 1.18 in
    Height 4.17 in
    Weight (loaded) 26.1 oz

It is the only Sig i do not have in my collection, i just cant like the squarish grip.
It weighs 1 ounce more than my 229 , but my 229 have 50% more capacity.
I might still get one though, but i see the prices have shot way up.

    Oh boy,

I would like to apologize to everyone in this thread especially the OP.

    I was completely mixed up.

See I used to have the P238 and got rid of it for the 9. Which I thought was the P239 which is actually the P938.

    Caliber 9mm
    Overall Length 5.9 in
    Overall Height 3.9 in
    Overall Width 1.1 in
    Barrel Length 3.0 in
    Sight Radius 4.2 in
    Weight w/out Mag 16.0 oz
    Mag Capacity 7 Rounds
    Sights SIGLITE Night Sights
    Grips Hogue G-10 Extreme Grips
    Frame Finish Black Hard Anodized
    Slide Finish Nitron®
Features Ambi-Safety, Beavertail style frame, Hogue G-10 Extreme Grips

So again.. I have the P938 not the P239. Wow.. it has been too long since I have used some ammo.. off to the range tomorrow.

    Sorry guys.....
