Best way to move rear sight
Got a new pistol the other day. It shoots a great group. But I consistently group to the left. Whether I'm shooting nice and slow, or, shooting rapid fire.
So, I have thought I would move the rear sight over to get me centered on the target.
What is the best way of doing this? I'm thinking a punch and a hammer, but wanted to check before I started tapping on it.The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control....

Are you shooting low and left? Have somebody else who knows how to shoot run a couple mags through it. Shooting low and left is typically the person behind the trigger. If it's still shooting left, the best way to move the sight is with a sight pusher. Many shops have one and will do it for you.
I would have other experienced shooters give it a try first, though. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

Left or right adjustments are NOT done with the rear site but the front.. that is where the site tool comes in handy.. the rear site is for up or down adjustments....

Re: Best way to move rear sight
Really? How the heck would you adjust up and down.
No, I'm shooting pretty spot on. Just to the left.
First mag fired slowly and aimed, trying to keep a tight group.
These were fired rapid fire. About 3 or 4 mags full. Sometimes drawing and firing two rounds. Sometimes just shooting as fast as I could and still feel I was under control.

Try moving your finger further over on the trigger. Ideally, I like to see the trigger square in the middle of the pad of the index finger.
It can happen. My dad shoots VERY well, and was consistently shooting left with his carry gun. No other pistol, even other Glocks. There's no such thing as a free lunch.

My guess would be it's not the sight if it's a pic of the Glock in the other thread.

Re: Best way to move rear sight
In my (limited) experience, what sprrdhawk44 said is correct.
Since (based on another thread) Mtbkski is presumably talking about his new Glock, the correct method to adjust windage would be to drift the rear sight with an appropriate tool like this one.
I have always shot low and left with my Glock 19 (with the sites set at the factory "zero"), but I've been told repeatedly that the problem lies with the shooter, not the gun.
EDIT: several posts above this were made after I started typing this one, I just saw them now.Last edited by twency; October 9th, 2013 at 09:39 PM.

If I may.... the Glock you just acquired is new to you. They are known to shoot left until you get used to the trigger. Are you shooting right handed, single hand? Try shooting left-handed and see what, if any, effect that has. I would put quite a few rounds through a new to me handgun before I decided it is the gun.
