Default Ghost ring night sights on pistols?

I am not familiar with ghost rings and am trying to educate myself.

What advantage, if any, do they provide over regular night sights??

Thanks for any information that you can provide.

I used to be indecisive. Now I'm not sure.

There is NO advantage. You have no edges to line up your front sight with.

They are a gimmick, and a shitty one at that.

Ghost rings work when they're close to your eye...not at arms length.

I've shot 3 separate pistols with them...they were all slower to get on target, and more difficult to group shot with.

If you want "fast" night sights...get something with an open rear sight, like the XS Big Dots, or the Warren Tacticals. I think Heinie does a pretty wide notch night sight, too.

Oh, stop sugar coating it already. Get to the point! lmao

He's right actually. Ghost rings are tremedously accurate on long guns, but of no real advantage on handguns. Here's what works best for me, then what works second best:

Here's a gold bead and a .135" wide notch. Fast as it gets.

Here's a tritium front with white surround and a 10-8 U-notch. This is the .125" notch, too narrow IMO. The U notch is REAL fast.

Wouldn't it be difficult to find a holster that would accept those sights?

    Ghost ring rear sights?

Most holsters don't come up far enough to cover the rear sight.

+1 what Synergy said. There's a good reason you don't find many ghost rings on pistols.

I use an Aro Tek ghost ring rear and a fiber optic front sight. I like it and think it's fast. Don't think I would like the same set up as night sights myself.
