Was in climber stand 7 hours today. Saw what I think were a couple yotes about 8AM, squirrels, turkeys. My camera batt was dead. Damn.

I had 5 birds coming my way after hearing them for a while.
Bearded one was about 40 yds out and coming through some pretty thick cover of leaves kind of hiding me. I picked up my crossbow and was made by one of the birds. They all stopped, shuffled around and just disappeared, not to be seen again.

Came home to see the trailcam pics of a couple doe and one of the small 6 points, bunch of raccoons, more turkeys, squirrels and what I think was a rabbit on 2 vids.

Opinions are like anal apertures. They all stink but mine.

The feet were the focal point as nary a deer showed it's scared face to be pictured with my spent crossbow.

    Ha.

I use Spitfire 100's 3 blade mechanical and have for about 10 years (correction I didn't archery hunt for 6 or 7 because I couldn't pull back my compound any more).

Had the last 2 deer go down in about 40 yds after complete pass through with these.

Great job! My son is big on antlers but I always tell him that when I get a buck, I'll give him the antlers to eat and I'll take the loin. Point being, I hunt for the meat so again, great job!

I was sitting in a blind with my son late afternoon yesterday when a doe came through. I got to see my son's first miss. It was on the limit of how far we shoot (40yds) and I saw the doe squat hard and the bolt went right over her back. Lesson learned... despite him being a good shooter and being a solid shot at that distance, you introduce enough time lag for the deer to react to the snap of that string.

Shot this one last night. I had doe estrus out. I was using a grunt call every so often. He came in almost at a run right around 4:30. He was sniffing around and I got a good broadside shot at 20 yrds. The arrow didn't completely pass through, it was sticking out the other side about 18 in. He took off and ran in a C pattern. He maybe went 40 yrds, wound up being a double lung shot. I would have seen him go down if it wasn't so thick. I thought he was an 8, but he had 7 and a little bump. This was my best deer with a bow. I got 1 more doe tag and I'm done. I think I'll save it for rifle season. This is the first year I tried mechanical broadheads and so far I'm impressed. They are every bit as good as fixed blades. I do think a Muzzy would have went straight through instead of hanging out the other side but you can't argue with dead in 40 yrds.
