Re: "American Rifle and Pistol Association" -- the new name for Handgun Control, Inc.
Appears that all of the twitter and facebook posts are pro gun and pro 2nd Amendment. A bit of "be careful what you ask for" at work here.
The President of the organization has put out a facebook post. He begins by outlining the current debate fairly well and at first his opinion appears to be very pro gun and pro second amendment.
Then....he puts out his solution that gun owners be required to have "Bill of sales" for all our guns. No legal sales or transfers without a bill of sale that would follow the gun all through it's various owners. All guns without a record of providence/ownership from the time of manufacure to current owner would be deemed "illegal".
Of course, he does mention the many roadblocks to such a system. For instance what happens if someone loses the bill of sale? What happens to existing guns in circulation that have no such record? Couldn't the Bill of sale be easily forged?... All in all, not only an unworkable system, but places unconstitutional and illegal burden on gun owners. How can he first point out that gun registration is currently illegal and endangers gun owners in his post, and then come up with this garbage? He has to know that the next incremental step pushed by the anti-gun rights lobby would be to database such bills of sale.
If this group are not wolves in sheeps clothing, I will apologize for thinking so, but I just have a really bad feeling about them. However, good to see that current member postings Ive seen are 100 percent pro gun-rights.

Just this little bit tells it all:
"Safety : Safety is the top priority for all responsible gun owners."
"Best Practices Sets the Standards : The types of weapons, ammunition types, and ammunition capacities allowed by law should be established by Best Practices, as exemplified by the standards of local law enforcement, private security, and top competition marksmen and hunters – never by cosmetic attributes. Basically, whatever equipment the experts deem most appropriate and effective should be available to any other citizen potentially facing the same threats."
ummhumm IMHO safety is important but self-defense is prime
'leos deem appropriate'....riiiight

New article from The Daily Caller about ARPA: http://dailycaller.com/2013/10/09/nr...s-flying-high/
Now comes the “American Rifle and Pistol Association” (ARPA). Founded on July 4, the group bills itself as an “independent third voice to the highly polarized national firearms conversation, a voice of reason and responsibility.”
But what do their leaders really think? ARPA’s CEO Waylan Johnson told U.S. News that the reason for their founding is because “The NRA represents the firearms industry. There’s not a lot of member input.” That sound bite is straight from the Obama/Bloomberg playbook, and there’s a reason for that. Another founder, group chairman Peter Vogt, had a lengthy online trail of social media postings in support of Bloomberg’s mayors’ group, as well as the newer gun control group “Moms Demand Action.” Once discovered, Vogt quickly and quietly took down his postings.
