Government shutdown nics
On the news they said if the big g shuts down no license to carry get processed. Made me think that nics will be down and no gun sales either. We use pics so I'm wonder what will happen. Any body know? I have not read any posts about any of this here. Is it going to be deer in a headlight or nothing at all?

Think of it as a 3-day waiting period.

Re: Government shutdown nics
Nothing will happen. NRA even posted the following on their Facebook page on Sunday, as well as on NRA-ILA website regarding it. If NICS will be up, so would be PICS.
NRA-ILA has received a number of questions on the status of the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) in the case of a government shutdown. Law enforcement activities are designated as essential services and do not shut down even if the Congress and President fail to agree on funding legislation. The NICS system will continue to operate.

O.K. Thanks for the info. I wonder what excuse will be used for not processing license to carry or if fox had it wrong.

Re: Government shutdown nics
Think of the government shutdown as a really big teachers strike.....ment to alarm and inconvenience you until you beg them to get things going again no matter what the cost.

Re: Government shutdown nics
I hope they shut down the rest of the year, I won't be paying taxes for the period they have shut down, I'll come out ahead in the end.

Actually.. it good that this country is going through this process. Hoping it is shut down for a while. The country will be fine and it may motivate the "takers" to do a reality check and think of ways to stop suckling at the tite.
