Re: just moved to Pa
assuming you are a Lancaster Co. resident, go see the Sheriff in Lancaster City and apply for a PA LTCF. You can find the form on-line at Lancaster Counties web-site

Re: just moved to Pa
A Florida license is no good in PA for concealed carry or Philly carry unless you are a resident of FL. It only enables vehicle carry (better learn about it first).
I assume you are in Lancaster County. Go here:
http://www.lancasterpasheriff.org/sh...&sheriffsNav=|
Fill out the application and take it to the Sheriff's office with your fee. No course or training required. It looks like he also wants you to fill out some sort of "instructions" form. He does not have the legal authority to make you do that, but I am assuming he will not accept the application if you do not complete it. So I would just do it unless somebody from Lancaster County says otherwise.

Re: just moved to Pa
Do you have a PA drivers license yet? If not, get that first. If you do, go get your License To Carry Firearms.
George,
So many guns, so little money.

Re: just moved to Pa
You can "open carry" without any permits or Lic. PA is legal open carry.
Just do your research on this forum to know your rights and the laws.

Re: just moved to Pa
Let's expand on this enough to be sure a recent arrival has enough info to stay out of jail.
- You can open carry without a permit (PA calls it a LTCF) everywhere in PA **EXCEPT** within Philadelphia city limits.
- Open carry without a LTCF does NOT allow for carrying a loaded firearm in a vehicle. However, a permit/license to carry from any other state DOES cover this.
- Open carry without a PA LTCF does not protect you within school zones.

Re: just moved to Pa
Firstly, welcome to PA. I lived in FL for many years and still have family there.
All great information so far. I just wanted to add that your FL license is still a considerable value to you. If you ever plan to travel back to FL it is required. Renewing it down the road can be done totally by mail. You probably already realize that the FL license covers you for carry in a considerably number of states. I have a PA, FL and UT license/LTCF because I used used to travel a lot. Now I just renew them.
Enjoy the fall because you know what is next. . Sorry all FL transplants get teased just a little.
